A Quick Overview of Hevy’s Exercise Library
Navigate to the Profile tab and tap the grey Exercises button below Dashboard. This will take you to the app’s exercise list, where you can search through the 400+ movements and all the custom exercises you have created.
Recently logged exercises will appear at the top, then just below this will be your custom exercises.
You can use the search function and the filters at the top to search for specific exercises or narrow down your search results.
How to Monitor Exercise Performance
Tap on any exercise in the library for additional details. (You can also access the information while building a routine or logging a live gym session by tapping the movement’s name.) The summary section displays your performance on a graph; you can show data from the last three months, year, or all time.
Weight Based Exercises
You can tap on different metrics such as Heaviest Weight, One Rep Max, Best Set Volume, Session Volume and Total Reps to display them on the graph.
Below this graph, Hevy displays your records for the movement, including the heaviest weight used, your true or projected 1RM (One Rep Max), and your best set and session volume.
Under this will be Set Records, which displays the maximum weight lifted for a given number of reps.
Bodyweight Based Exercises and Assisted Exercises
For bodyweight exercises and assisted exercises such as assisted pull-ups, the graph will have two metrics, Most Reps (Set) and Session Reps. Most Reps (Set) shows you the most reps completed in a set, Session Reps shows you the most reps completed in a whole workout session.
These will also be the two Personal Records shown below the graph.
Important note: Assisted exercises do not have weight-based Personal Records. The Personal Records received for these exercises will only be for most reps in a set or most reps in a session.
Duration Exercises
For duration exercises such as planks, the graph will display your Best Time and this will be the only Personal Record available for these exercises.
Cardio Exercises
For cardio exercises, you can view your Best Pace, Longest Distance and Longest Time on the graph and below this you can see your Personal Records for your Longest Distance and Longest Time.
Strength Level
For some exercises, at the bottom, you can track your Strength Level in comparison to other Hevy users of the same bodyweight, age and sex group. You will be given a level of Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Elite based on your stats.
This feature is available for the following exercises:
'Leg Press (Machine)', 'Bicep Curl (Barbell)', 'Skullcrusher (Barbell)', 'Preacher Curl (Barbell)', 'Reverse Curl (Barbell)', 'Seated Wrist Extension (Barbell)', 'Hip Thrust (Barbell)', 'Behind the Back Bicep Wrist Curl (Barbell)', 'Romanian Deadlift (Barbell)', 'Spider Curl (Barbell)'
Sharing Exercise Performance
You can tap the upright arrow icon on the top right beside the three dots to share a summary of your performance and personal records for this exercise with friends outside Hevy.
Exercise History Tracking
If you navigate to an exercise and tap the History tab, you will be able to see all of the workouts you have completed this exercise in, the dates they were done and the sets, reps and weights completed for that session.
If you want to see more information about one specific workout, you can tap it and it will bring you to the completed workout with all of the information. This is a great way to access more details that add context and help you understand your training performance.
For instance, you might notice that you’ve been lifting slightly less weight for fewer reps on the lat pulldown in the last five or ten workouts. But as you tap and explore older and current workouts, you might notice that you’ve been doing the lat pulldown third or fourth, whereas you previously did it near the start of your sessions.
That insight can help you better understand how fatigue adds up and affects your performance. More importantly, having access to that information can keep you from getting discouraged.
