Hevy has a built-in library of 400+ exercises, but you can also create custom ones with all the relevant details.
Creating a Custom Exercise from Scratch
Let’s say a movement you enjoy doing, be it a pre-workout stretch, a less common variation of a core barbell lift, a cardio exercise, or something else, isn’t in the library. In that case, tap Create on the top right and add it to your library with all the essential details:
- Image Name
- Required equipment (if any)
- Primary muscle target
- Secondary muscle targets
- Exercise type (such as weight & reps, bodyweight reps, or duration)
Creating a Custom Exercise by Duplicating
You can also select any existing exercise from the library and duplicate it to turn it into a custom exercise. Open an exercise in the library (or by clicking on it while logging a live workout or creating a routine) and tap the three dots on the top right.
Tweak the name, change the asset (you can add a photo, video, or GIF), and adjust any other details if necessary.
Deleting or Editing a Custom Exercise
If you stop using a custom exercise and want to clean up your library, you can open the entry, tap the three dots on the top right, and select Delete Exercise.
If you want to edit the details of a custom exercise, you can open the exercise, tap the three dots on the top right and select Edit Exercise. You can edit the title, asset (photo, video or GIF), equipment, primary muscle group and secondary muscles. The type of exercise cannot be changed.
