There are two different types of records in Hevy: set records and personal records. These two types of records are tracked and awarded differently in the app. Read below to learn more about how these records work within the Hevy app.
Set Records
A set record is when you achieve the heaviest weight lifted for a specific number of reps. This is different from 1RM (One Rep Max) or Heaviest Weight. These records are tracked in a table that can be found at the bottom of the main page of an exercise. These records do not trigger a live Personal Record announcement or a medal achievement for that set.
Personal Records (PRs)
There are different types of Personal Records that you can achieve in the Hevy app. Different types of exercises have different PRs available for them. The table below shows which PRs can be achieved for the different types of exercises.

A personal record will trigger a live Personal Record notification during your workout (if you have this setting toggled on) and a medal will appear for the set the PR was achieved and in the workout information once you have saved the workout.
Important note: Assisted exercises do not have PRs available for weight. It may appear you are receiving incorrect PRs as you may be rewarded when you have used less assistance weight, which would mean you lifted more of your bodyweight, but this is not taken into account with PRs. You will only receive PRs for most session reps and best set (which refers to the set with the most reps).
What to do when a PR is not triggering an award/notification
First, check to make sure that the record you have achieved is a Personal Record and not a Set Record. If it was a PR and not a Set Record, check the currently achieved personal records for the exercise by tapping on the exercise from within the workout and make sure that the set you completed actually achieved a PR (it can be easy to forget what PRs you have achieved in the past). If after both of these steps, you are sure a PR should have been awarded, reach out to hello@hevyapp.com and our support team will assist you and investigate the issue further.
