The Hevy API lets you pull your Hevy data whenever you need it. You can use it to get your workout history, track your progress, manage your routines, and more.
Important: API access is currently only available to Hevy Pro users.
How to Get Your API Key
- Go to Hevy Developer Settings in your web browser.
- Sign in to your Hevy account.
- Open the Developer section in Settings.
- Select Generate API Key.
- Copy your key and save it somewhere safe. You'll need it for every request.
How the API Works
Once you have your key, you can use any of the endpoints listed in the Hevy API Documentation.
To authenticate, add your key to the request header like this:
api-key: YOUR_API_KEY
Each endpoint lets you get, create, or update a specific type of data in your account.

What the API Doesn't Cover
Some Hevy features aren't part of the public API right now:
- Social features like followers, friends, comments, likes, and feeds
- Other users' private data. Your key only gives access to your own account.
- Wearable data like live Apple Watch heart rate, biometrics, and live workout sync
- Apple Health or Health Connect data
- Subscription info like billing, payment history, or managing your plan
- Account management like changing settings, deleting accounts, or managing other users
- Deleting workouts, routines, or exercises
These limits only apply to the public API. They don't reflect what you can do in the Hevy app.
Keep Your API Key Safe
Your API key gives access to your training data and can be used to make changes to your workouts and routines. To keep your account safe:
- Don't share your key with anyone
- Store it somewhere secure
- Never post it publicly or send it to Hevy Support
