It is possible to duplicate and create custom exercises in the Hevy App. The free version offers 7 custom exercises to be created, and unlimited when you upgrade to the Pro version.
How to add a Custom Exercise
In the Hevy app, we have an extensive exercise library, which we add to periodically. If the exercise you are looking for isn't in the exercise library, you can create a custom one!
- Open the Hevy app
- Select the profile tab
- Tap Exercises
- Tap “Create” in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- Add the exercise details (Equipment, Primary and other Muscle groups, Exercise type) and add an image if you would like.
- Tap “Save”
Edit a Custom Exercise
- Open the Hevy app
- Select the profile tab
- Tap Exercises
- Select the custom exercise you would like to edit
- Tap the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- Select “Edit Exercise”
- Make necessary changes
- Tap “Update”
Note: Exercise type is the only thing that can’t be edited. If you wanted to change the exercise type, you would need to delete it and create a new one. Also, custom exercises can be created within the web app, but cannot be edited from the web app.
How to Duplicate an Exercise
If you need to reset the data or update exercise details (equipment, primary or other muscle groups, or exercise type) on an exercise in the exercise library, you can duplicate the exercise.
- Open the Hevy app
- Select the profile tab
- Tap Exercises
- Select the custom exercise you would like to duplicate
- Tap the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- Select “Duplicate Exercise”
- Adjust any exercise details, including exercise type
Note: When duplicating an exercise, it resets the data, so it is possible to change the exercise type, unlike editing an exercise.
