The duration exercise inline timer goes up and not down, why?

For exercises that measure duration, there is an option beside the time to hit play. It is commonly believed that if you type a time into this section and hit play, that it will act as a timer, but this is not the case. This play option actually acts as a stopwatch. 

You can either input the duration of the exercise manually here or leave it at 0 and then tap Play. It will then act as a stopwatch, allowing you to stop it when you are done with the exercise, and it will record the stopwatch time as the duration. 

How to add a timer within a workout

There is a timer that you can use if you know how long you want to do your exercise for. Follow the instructions below to access the timer. 

1. Tap the clock icon at the top of the workout
2. Choose ‘Timer’
3. Input the duration of the exercise
4. When the timer reaches 0 it will use the same sound that you hear for the rest timer to alert you that your exercise is done
5. Input this time manually into the exercise time section
